Gregg Hurwitz schreibt gut, richtig gut. Spannend, gute Plots, schnell. Sein erster Krimi "Die Scharfrichter" erschien 2006 und jetzt ist seit Februar 2011 der sechste Krimi auf dem Markt, "Tödlicher Fehler". Eine wachsende Fangemeinde wartet auf die nächsten Bücher des amerikanischen Autors, der ebenso blendend aussieht wie er schreibt. Grund genug, ihn auf den roten Teppich zu bitten!

What puts you in a bad mood? And what puts you in a good mood?

Gregg Hurwitz: Bad mood: Too many logistics. Good mood: Good day writing. Good workout.


If you could take breakfast, lunch and dinner at three different places in the world - where would you go?

Gregg Hurwitz: Oh, man. That’s a tough one since I love food so much. Breakfast at the counter at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Lunch at Sprüngli in Zurich. Dinner in Florence at one of a dozen places.


Tea or coffee?

Gregg Hurwitz: Tea all day. Espresso in the morning.

What makes a day a perfect day?

Gregg Hurwitz: Good writing where I lose myself and forget what time it is. A couple hours of soccer. A hike with my dog. Time with my family. A great dinner and an action movie. Retiring with a great book.

How do you come up with ideas for your novels?

Gregg Hurwitz: They hammer at me all day. I’m always thinking, “What’s the worst thing that can happen right now?” I’m also an insomniac, so my idea for the latest came at 2am when I couldn’t sleep. I was lying there, staring at the ceiling, and I thought….what next?

Do you work as a full-time writer – and if so, what would have been an alternative to writing?

Gregg Hurwitz: Yes. There wasn’t one, really. It’s all I ever wanted to do.

Do you have a favourite author? If so: Who and why?

Gregg Hurwitz: So, so many. That’s like asking if I have a favorite food. I love reading. It’s why I became an author.
