Where the Wild Fathers Live

A city family moves to the country

  • Funny, self-deprecating, entertaining - great fun, not only for parents
  • From city to country - with all the pitfalls

The dream of rural life - Björn Kern and his young family want to live the dream and so they move from hip Berlin to the Oderbruch region. Instead of a flat, a decaying farm. Instead of overflowing play parks with worried helicopter parents, there is wild nature and silent country fathers whose stoic nonchalance is something to be learned from. But rural life also has its pitfalls: for although his daughter quickly adjusts, Björn Kern realises that he lacks the key skills of being a country father. He fails to pitch a tent and can’t properly gut a self-caught fish. But fortunately, when things get tough his flippant neighbour always gives him a hand plus some affectionate teasing...

“Papa, can you bring the fish back to life?”

“We moved house in the summer holidays. Only a little while later it became clear that country fathers don’t have it easier. Above all two things make their lives difficult: No. 1. They are a father. No. 2. They live in the country.” Björn Kern
