“Here I stand, I cannot do otherwise!” is the answer Martin Luther gave to the Diet of Worms when the Kaiser asked him if he would retract what he had claimed in his writings. Martin Luther, who had already been condemned as a heretic, had everything to lose. If he did not retract, the Kaiser would make Luther an outlaw and allow anyone to kill him without punishment. But the young monk stood by his convictions, which he had gained after much soul searching. And in the following years, these convictions turned the Church on its head...

18th April 2021 is the 500th anniversary of the Diet of Worms. An event that the Church will celebrate with various events. On this occasion, the new book by author and pastor Fabian Vogt presents 25 inspiring people of world history who, like the well-known reformer Luther, demonstrated conviction and changed the world through their bravery.
