Part 2 of the moving family saga about an apple farm in South Tirol.
It is a few years before the outbreak of the Second World War and South Tirol is as divided as never before. The Ponte family also argues passionately about the nascent fascism and the question of whether they should remain in Italy or emigrate to the German Empire. Ultimately, the siblings break with each other: While Franziska decides to continue their apple farm despite all her reservations against the Italian government, Leopold leaves his home and family to join the fascists. Soon the approaching war overshadows life on the farm in Moos.
