Spanish Dance of Death

The Barcelona-based author Catalina Ferrera with her second captivatingly atmospheric Barcelona thriller for the Berlin ex-commissioner Karl Lindberg and his Catalan brother-in-law Comisario Alex Diaz from Mossos d`Esquadra.

A murder and a sophisticated criminal case in the “city of the dead,” the atmosphere of Spain with its humor and charm - such are the ingredients for every holiday country thriller.

With a certain instinct for forensic suspense and a loving view of the peculiarities and contentions between the Catalans and the Spaniards, Catalina Ferrera leads the reader in her second Barcelona thriller not only through the fascinating capital of Catalonia, but also through Barcelona's huge cemetery, the Cementiri de montjuïc. For what is an ultra-conservative politician doing in the Cementiri de Montjuïc at night, a cemetery as big as a whole city, the scene of illegal parties and all sorts of other unseemly pleasures in the darkest of hours? And, more importantly, who murdered the man there? As another - unburied - corpse appears in the cemetery, superstitious Barcelona is quickly losing its own fears. Comisario Alex Diaz and his brother-in-law Karl Lindberg, who have just been officially named sergeant to the Catalan police, have their hands full trying to catch the “devil” himself.
