Psychoanalyst Thomas Kern is shocked when he witnesses the suicide of a young female patient without being able to intervene. But it gets worse for not long after, the police visit him. He is accused of abusing the girl and consequently driving her to suicide. Thomas’ wife kicks him out, friends and colleagues turn their backs on him while his daughter Natascha no longer wants to know him. It is only when Thomas discovers that Natascha’s new boyfriend is a member of a dangerous sect that he guesses that a perfidious network is closing in on him bit by bit.
