Iris Zimmerman has been a single mother for 16 years — the father of Livia, her daughter, died shortly before her birth. Iris tries to protect Livia with all her strength. Livia is a teenager who loves sports and has hopes of participating in the Olympics. However, she appears to be slipping away from Iris bit by bit. When Livia has a serious accident on her bike, her dreams are abruptly shattered and Iris nearly goes to pieces with guilt.
After training in a bank, Jana Bennings had a change of direction and studied sociology and comparative studies in Hamburg and Berlin. After many years working in management positions in publishing, she is now self-employed as a literary agent, translator and author. When she is not at her desk, she is practising sword fighting, tango and mindfulness on the yoga mat. Jana Bennings lives with her daughter in Hamburg.
