Commissaire Mazan on the Trail of the Corsican

Under their nom-de-plume Jean Bagnol, the bestseller author Nina George (Little Paris Book Shop) and the ethnologist, ex-pilot and author Jens ‘Joe’ Kramer have written an unusual mafia crime novel. Their Provence crime series based around the policewoman Zadira from Marseille and the black cat investigator, Commissaire Mazan, interweaves Provencal savoir-vivre with modern cat crime and a fast-paced thriller to an atmospherically dense novel set in France.   In volume 3, ‘Commissaire Mazan on the Trail of the Corsican’, the investigator Zadira Matéo only just manages to survive an assassination attempt. She hides from the corrupt police and the mafia from Marseille in a remote truffle farm, accompanied by her tomcat, Commissaire Mazan. At the same time, Zadira’s lover, the vet Jules, tries to find the Corsican in Marseille, the much-feared hired killer who has Zadira in his sights. But who hired the Corsican: The Mafia, the police – or even a familiar enemy from Zadira’s past? ‘A master class of dark and fascinating crime fare. Shocks and illuminates. Gripping, earthy, dirty, real.’ Krimi Forum.net
