Loneliness: The Undetected Illness

Loneliness is a disease – an alarming message, which has been proved by numerous scientific studies. Lonely people suffer more often from cancer, heart attacks, strokes, depression and dementia. Thus, loneliness is the leading cause of death in the Western world, according to Manfred Spitzer. He is the first to describe pathogenic loneliness and which serious impact it has on body and soul. His book is a disturbing appeal to a society which is still considering loneliness an attractive wellness retreat for the stressed out ones.
