Eric von Kastell is an artist whose dark and cruel
expressionistic paintings are inspired by what he sees

during his nocturnal expeditions looking for shape-
changers. His quest takes him all over the world and

requires him to arm himself with weaponry,
knowledge and ruthlessness. Some but not all of the

shape-changers are werewolves. In fact, were-
creatures come in all guises, with their own names

and behavioural patterns, but they all have one thing
in common – they hunt and kill humans. Eric is on
the trail of a species that was hunted by his
ancestors: the were-creatures that killed his father
and terrorized the people of the Gévaudan in the 18th
century stumble upon a secret that pulls them into a
dangerous adventure.

Markus Heitz

Markus Heitz, born in 1971, studied German Philology and History. No other author has received as many German Fantasy Awards as him, which is why he is quite rightly regarded the grandmaster of German fantasy. With his bestselling “Dwarf”- series he made his mark in classic fantasy, but he also took the Urban Fantasy-scene by storm with his werewolf- and vampirethrillers. Markus Heitz lives in Homburg.
