  • A true gem: single handy volume, 624 pages on thin paper — a life companion in the best way; with image sections and two ribbons
  • Over 100,000 copies of the author’s first book “Der Klang” have been sold
  • Purchase impulse: “It fascinates me how a master luthier writes about spirituality and a harmonious life.”

“Ultimately, music is a prayer cast in sound.”

Martin Schleske is a master luthier and physicist. Many say that his instruments are among the best in the world. And that is his aspiration: in everything that he does, in fathoming the depth of possibilities to the edge of the achievable. Some of the tools with which he works are his own inventions. And he travels hundreds of kilometres to a remote place in the Alps in order to select the wood from which he wants to build his violins.

However, Martin Schleske is not only an excellent craftsman, scientist, author and speaker, he is above all a listener. In his workshop in the old town of Landsberg am Lech he has created a small chapel. This is where his finished violins are tested. But he also goes up to this room several times a day to meditate and pray. This book was also written in there.
His writings address the joy of an intensely experienced faith and the knowledge of God’s secret. Twelve tools from his workshop symbolise different topics that he investigates. How does a praying lifestyle create inner wisdom, joie de vivre and strength? How can we survive in difficult times, in loneliness and in suffering? Martin Schleske investigates these and many other questions.
