The start of a great saga about an idyllic stable in East Prussia
At the end of the twenties, her family’s stables close to Kallingrad is heaven on earth for 18-year-old Hanna Saalbach. In contrast to her older brothers, she has inherited a love for the noble Trakehner horses from her father. When a particularly gentle foal is born, she devotedly looks after the little mare that she has called Belladonna. But there are dark times ahead, that will cost the Saalbachs more than just their home. Hanna’s love for Johann, who is considered to be the black sheep of his family, is sorely tested when she reveals she is expecting a child from him and her parents are threatening to banish her. She gains strength from her companion who never leaves her side: Belladonna.
