The teachings of monks

Live better with the ancient wisdom of the monks

Monastery wisdom for everyday - a classic on Christian spirituality

With images from the Benedictine tradition and photos from the Beuron monastery

Increasingly often, we feel like we are living in a hamster wheel and leading an all too hectic day-to- day life. We sense the inner limit of what is bearable has long since been reached, if not exceeded. And we are longing for peace and clarity. This book could be an answer to our questions. Peter Seewald invites you to rediscover the centuries-old wisdom of the monasteries and religious orders. We can learn from nuns and monks what it means to reflect on the essentials, how to find our centre and to recognise what is really important, what lasts and what bears fruit. Ancient wisdom: sources of happiness, profound harmony, new strength. Letting go. Listening. Silence. Humility. And above all: love. Discovering the wisdom of the monks means finding your way back: to yourself, to your fellow humans and to God. The classic on Christian spirituality in a beautifully designed new edition.
