Pater Angelico’s second case

Within the shortest span of time, Florence has to deal with three gruesome murders. The first victim is a priest from Pater Angelico’s convent – mutilated and branded with marks that lead to the conclusion the deceased could have indulged in sodomy. Prior Vincenzo Bandelli, as usual at loggerheads with Pater Angelico, insists that the Pater clears up this mess as quickly as possible. But the other bodies show bloody tell-tale marks as well and they all seem to point to the seven deadly sins. Is there a deadly punishing angel around executing fellow sinning human beings?
