There's nothing better than family ... is there?
Juna Zweistein is thrilled when she inherits her aunt's old hotel, which stands in the tranquil village of Tulpenboom on the North Sea coast, right next to the lighthouse. Unfortunately, her family is not quite as enthusiastic: banker Matthis is attached to his habits, and for teenage daughter Leonie, it is an imposition to have to move from Wilhelmshaven to the village. Only 13-year-old Friedrich, with his penchant for history, can get something out of Tulpenboom. But even the Tulpenboomers are very much in favour of keeping everything exactly as it is. Including the disused hotel in need of renovation. But Juna gets her way, and so the Zweisteins set out on a new life full of stormy moments, in which they all have to join forces for better or for worse...
‘Reading Regine Kölpin's The Zweisteins – Family shapes character offers a wonderful break from the turbulence of everyday (family) life. Lovingly told, wonderfully authentic, full of warm-hearted humour and North Sea charm.’ Sabine Ley, editor
