Fair Trickery

Enlightened consumers want to change the world through conscious consumption choices. Warning signals for ecological cultivation and fair production- and trading conditions give the consumer a good feeling. Yet the mechanisms don’t work, the commodity producers are deprived of the revenues that were given in good faith. Sina Trinkwalder, one of the most high profile and disputatious managers in Germany, speaks candidly: Who benefits? How are farmers and craftsmen actually treated? What are the negative connotations of the do-gooder business?
