Ulli Olvedi recounts numerous fairy tales, legends, fables and anecdotes from the Tibetan cultural region. They are primarily from the era before Buddhism and are less known in the West. Some of them are reminiscent of the Brothers Grimm, some of Aesop’s Fables, while others could compete in terms of cheek with The Decameron. But whether they are magical, drastic or impertinent, the mischievous humour of the Tibetans prevails in the stories. This roguishness does not only accompany the readers through the exotic history of Tibet but also leads them to the joyous heart of this old nomadic culture.
